An unusual bench-made violin with a signed label.
Tom Nuttall owned a music shop in 39 Rose Street, Bolton. He made numerous stringed instruments and repaired many more. The label also says "Manchester Street, Bolton" and there's a handwritten note after Tom's name saying "Maker". There's also a note to the left saying "No. 33" - which is presumably the actual production number of this violin.
This violin is well-made and in very good original condition, in a very dark wood finish. It's professionally set up with one of Tom's original bridges and we've fitted new Warchal Brilliant strings.
This isn't a violin for the faint-hearted. It's a loud violin made for confident playing but which can also be tamed! Listen to the sound sample showing both a strident piece (Horses' Bransle) and also a lyrical piece (the Ashokan Farewell) to hear what we're talking about!
