| A one piece carved maple back is another unusual feature on this new viola. It has a nice stripe and a beautiful warm lustre due to the oil varnish. The instrument shown here is a unique one and is hand-carved. It really is spectacular! The accessories are all jujube wood which is similar to boxwood. The deep body gives the instrument its deep, warm resonance. The stripe on the maple ribs match the back, the scroll is well carved and all the pegs are lubricated and work well.
The attractive shape is inspired by the early viols. This is a modern day gamba-style viola! Every detail has been attended to. The bow is correct for a quarter size viola and is made of brazilwood with an ebony frog and good quality natural horsehair.
