This Bohemian violin is truly sensational. We are always attracted to old violins which are a little out of the ordinary and this one is as far out of the ordinary as you can get! See below for a detailed look at the inlays.

Internally, the violin is adequate and has been carefully and professionally set up with new Dominant strings. The tone is bright with good projection - good for sessions. Included in the price is a matching bow.

How many hours did this take? Not only is the back decorated with exquisite inlay, all the edges to the body are inlaid with chevron banding.

The fingerboard is pearwood or similar to accommodate the mother of pearl decoration. The inlaid purfling extends round into this pattern. Mother of pearl and abalone are some of the materials used within the pattern. The light green areas are made from crushed dried peas!

The scroll isn't terribly out of the ordinary but the ebony pegs are inlaid with decorative mother of pearl.

The bow is 73.1cms total length and weighs 71.7grammes. The ebony frog is inaid with matching mother of pearl and abalone decoration and is fully mounted in nickel silver. The stick is slightly stripey Brazil wood of a beautiful dark reddy brown, and you can see a slight deviation from straight.

This is a full-size violin and would make a great addition to your collection.
